Obituary of Jose Serrano Dando

Jose Serrano Dando Jr. passed away on January 23, 2018 surrounded by family and prayers. Born In Laguna, Philippines on March 17, 1932 to Jose and Antonia (Serrano) Dando. The third of eight siblings- Victoria (deceased), Concepcion (deceased), Praxedes, Roberta, Domingo, Vedasto, and Jane. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Julita, children RoseAnn (Harry), Gerard, Pauline (Ross) and grandchildren Sienna, Corelle, Samantha, Harrison, Lorenzo, and Marcus. A graduate of the University of Santo Tomas in Civil Engineering, he travelled the world for both work and pleasure. After getting married and wishing to put down roots, our family settled in Tucson, Arizona on March 1982. Jose was a longtime active member of the Filipino American Sampaguita Club of Tucson. He worked and retired from the Pima County Department of Transportation. An avid gardener and carpenter throughout his life, these became more of a passion after retirement. Many friends and family enjoyed the fruits and vegetables he grew. Jose and Julita also enjoyed their workouts at the Lighthouse YMCA. Jose has always been a source of quiet strength and support, while preferring to stay in the background. Thank you for a life well-lived and a job well done. You are already missed!
