Doris Budy

Obituary of Doris Lee Budy

Doris Lee Budy of Tucson, Arizona was welcomed into our Lord’s presence at noon on April 18, 2024, surrounded by her daughters at TMC Peppi’s House Hospice. She was 97 years old.

Doris was born to Leroy and Ethel Scoles on February 2, 1927 in Miami, Oklahoma. She grew up in Miami and graduated from Miami High School in 1945.

She married the love of her life, Army Air Corps Sgt. George A. Budy in Miami on August 16, 1947. They met at church in Miami.

They lived in many places throughout their lives including Miami, Oklahoma; Rapid City, South Dakota; Overland Park, Kansas; May, Oklahoma; Scottsdale, Arizona;  Mesa, Arizona; Aconchi, (Sonora) Mexico; Tucson, Arizona, then St. David, Arizona and finally back to Tucson.

Doris was a mother, missionary and pastor’s wife during her working years. She loved all her children and grandchildren/great-grandchildren visiting her in St. David, and later in Tucson when she was still able to keep up with them!  She was affectionately called Nana by almost everyone in her later years  - no doubt due to her time in Mexico with so many children around!

Doris loved cooking, watching westerns on TV, relating stories of her family from the 1930’s thru the 1950’s, walking with her husband while watching and observing people, having guests in her home, and eating ice cream with her own personal spoon! But most of all, she loved God.

She was preceded in death by sisters Ruth Spohn, Barbara Wimer, Margaret Goodwin and brothers Leroy Scoles and Darryl Scoles. She is survived by her brother Rex Scoles and sisters Leona Moore, Elsie Spohn, and Joyce Conley.

She leaves behind her husband of 77 years - George A. Budy; four children, Miriam Billings and husband Scott, George D. Budy and wife Robin, Debbie Taylor and husband Bruce, and Mark Budy and wife Lilly and ten grand-children, Rebekah Spencer, E. Scott Billings, Jordan Billings, Benjamin Turner, Tabitha Bard, Elizabeth Lowery, Joshua Budy, Alisha Maurer-Budy, Vanessa and Emilie Budy and 23 great-grandchildren:

Isaac, Hannah, Ethan; Leilani, Liam, Landen; Aden, Abigail, Alijah, Aaron, Aleck; Kaleb and Zachary; Claire, Charlotte, Edward and Henry; Reagan, Pevensie, Elliette and McKade; Logan and Dahlia.

A service will be held for her at Bring’s Funeral Chapel  (6910 E. Broadway) on May 6th 2024 at 11:00am.
