Aniceto Gonda

Obituary of Aniceto M. Gonda

Our beloved Aniceto Gonda, "Papa Itoy", joined his wife, Josefina Gonda, and two of his daughters in heaven, on Sunday May 13, 2018.  He was born April 17, 1917 in Manila Philippines.  In Manila he grew up and graduated from Far Eastern University with a major in Accounting.  After graduation he joined Atkins Kroll, an American Import company and worked there until retiring as Executive Vice President. During WW II he used company assets to provide food to American civilians imprisoned by the Japanese and to pay for hospitalization and funeral expenses of employees.  After retirement he and his wife relocated to the United States and they settled in Tucson in 1985.  Itoy loved living in Tucson and, until he was 90, playing golf with family and friends.  He also served as a volunteer at TMC.  Due to his outgoing personality he had many friends who, along with his family, celebrated his 100th birthday in 2017.  He was an amazing man loved by all and his life was defined by Faith, Family, Friends and Fortitude.  He is survived by four children Aniceto Gonda Jr., Eduardo Gonda, Erlinda Gonda Raezer, and Yolanda Gonda, daughter-in-law May Gonda, 14 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.  A Celebration of Life will be held on June 16 at Pius X church with luncheon to follow at his daughter's residence.  In lieu of flowers, please send a donation to St. Pius X Catholic Church, 1800 N Camino Decimo, where he was the oldest member.
