Dora Redmon

Obituary of Dora Grace Redmon

Dora Griffin Redmon passed away in Tucson, AZ on 3 May 2018.  She is survived by her husband Hubert and three children; Pam Boxwell (Rich), Huntsville, AL; Alan Redmon, San Diego, CA; and Don Redmon (Heather), Tucson, AZ; and five grandchildren.  Dora was born in DeValls Bluff, AR in 1937 and graduated from the DeValls Bluff High School in 1955.  She met her future husband Hubert Redmon while working in Brinkley and they were married in the fall of 1957.  Hubert was in the Air Force at the time and they made their first home in Sherman, TX.  They jointly made the decision to make a career of the Air Force and had many varied and enjoyable assignments.  Dora went to school at several different colleges as they moved around the country and although she did not complete her degree she was a well-educated person who could hold her own in any discussion.  She was an extremely well talented artist and won many ribbons at different art shows in various locations around the country.  Her mixed media painting (gold leaf and oil) was selected as best of show in the Pima County art show, a large show in Tucson, AZ.  She enjoyed travel and was able to accompany her husband on trips around the states and to several countries around the world to include China, Egypt, Thailand, and many European countries.  While Dora was proud of the things she was able to accomplish she was most proud of her three children, five grandchildren, and their accomplishments.  Her daughter Pamela earned four degrees in business and teaching and recently retired from teaching.  Her two sons, Alan and Don, were both engineers and both served in the military in war zones in the Mideast.  A small family celebration will be conducted at the Air Force Chapel on Davis Monthan AFB, AZ on 9 May and a memorial service is planned in DeValls Bluff, AR, on 19 May.  Dora will be interred shortly thereafter in Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, VA.
