of
Sara Love Pogue
On April 14th, 2018, Sara Lee Love-Pogue received the calling to continue her guidance, in the presence of the Lord Jesus Christ. Leading up to the last days of her declining health, she still reached out to her community with love, laughter, and strength. From Mrs. Pogue’s genesis in Asheville, N.C., and soon to return to her kindred roots in Pike Road, AL. and Montgomery, AL., the significance of “Family” was instilled in her. During her extensive travels, in support of her beloved husband of 58 years, Mr. Zack A. Pogue, retired Master Sergeant, United States Air Force; she reinforced the theme “that you are only as strong as your weakest link,” into her six children, James Hugh (Kathy), Stephen Michael (Pam), Zack Alphonso II (Amy), Saralynn Love (Howard), Rosa Elois and Anthony Maurice (Gloria). Ms. Sara is survived by her husband, Zack A. Pogue, brother, Moses Butcher (AL.), and preceded by her sister, Louise Powell (GA.). Believing that education “unlocks doors” and “reaching out” makes the world a better place, Mrs. Pogue served the Tucson Unified School District for twenty years as a community representative while also a representative to the Tucson Education Association, Arizona Education Association, and the National Education Association. Ms. Sara was also a founding board member of the Tucson provisional chapter of Jack and Jill of America Inc. Grandmother Pogue always prayed that her precious grandchildren, LaShannon, Melissa Dawn, James Hugh, Nicole, Zachary, Anna, Shane, Jordan Alfonso, Atianna, Holly, Melijah, Isaiah, Destiny and Ty, would come together with her great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers please donate to Bridges Geropsychiatric Program at St. Mary’s Hospital Tucson, AZ 520-872-3000.
