Obituary of Betty Jeane O'Connor

Mrs. Betty Jeane O’Connor went home to be with the Lord on April 4, 2018, one week short of her 94th birthday.  Betty Jeane Smith grew up in the St. Louis area and worked for the Brown Shoe Company.  In 1945, she met her future husband, Joe O’Connor, at a USO dance.  As the spouse of an Air Force Sergeant, Betty and Joe raised a family of three boys and four girls in many locations: Massachusetts, Hawaii, Alabama, Greenland, Illinois, Okinawa, Indiana, Michigan, New York and Arizona.  She enjoyed cooking, knitting and traveling with her family to many parts of America.  Betty was married to Joe for 66 years until he passed away in 2011.  Betty is survived by her sister Alma; her children, Joe Jr. (Mary), Father Pio, O.F.M., Tim (Alice), Patti, Peggy, Cathy and Cindy; her grandchildren, Mike (Sandy), Jeremy, Matthew (Rebekka), Kaitlin (Josh), Katie and Erin; her great-grandchildren, Allen, Kailey, Ethan, and Abby; and her numerous nieces and nephews.  Visitation will be on Tuesday April 10, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at BRING'S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 East Broadway, Tucson, with Rosary and Vigil beginning at 7:00 p.m.  Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, April 11, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Mother of Sorrows Parish, 1800 South Kolb Road, Tucson, followed by burial at Our Lady of the Desert Catholic Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Saint Vincent de Paul Society Our Mother of Sorrows Conference, 1800 South Kolb Road, Tucson, AZ 85710.
