Obituary for Anthony “Tony” Michael Mayer

Tony passed away on May 8, 2023, in Tucson, AZ., at the age of 93. He is survived by his sisters, Rosaleen Hutter, who resides in WI., and Roxanne Straub who resides in CA. Tony was originally from WI where he attended the Univ. of WI before entering the Army. He served his country for 3 years during the Korean War and married Connie, his wife of 64 years, in 1955. They relocated to CA in 1962. Tony provided for his family by working at companies like IBM and the Boeing Corporation (McDonell Douglas) where he eventually retired in 1992. For the next decade, Tony and Connie enjoyed touring the country as full-time RVers, eventually settling down in Tucson Estates in AZ.

Tony liked to say that he has “3 favorite sons” and those sons, Mike, Larry, and Joe, all strive to be like their dad every day. Tony was a very likeable man who was always willing to help and would always go with the flow. He could often be heard saying, “I’m flexible” when asked to decide. Tony was also a model of patience and love in how he cared for Connie in her final years as she developed symptoms of dementia. Tony was a great husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He will be missed by many, but the memories he created are forever in those that knew him.
