Obituary of Melissa Ann Unger

Melissa Ann Unger passed away peacefully on Wednesday April 12, 2023, in Tucson, AZ. She was 75 years old.   On that day she was reunited with her loving husband, Brian, and her parents Ray and Margery Stockwell: where she gained her wings.  Melissa was born in Lockport, NY on February 16, 1948.  She graduated from De Sales Catholic High School in Lockport, Class of 1965.  In her early 20s She worked as a phlebotomist. During this time, Brian and Melissa met their lifelong friends, Rick and Peggy Reddien. 

Melissa moved to Tucson in 1979 with her family. This move was a hope that it would give Brian better health.  In her early years living in Tucson, she worked for herself doing Child Care out of her home. She provided care for many of the neighborhood children.  In the early 90’s she became a Home Health Care Supplies Specialist working for Danny’s Pharmacy.  After retirement and the passing of her husband, she kept busy by working part time for Costco.  She was one of the famous and loved food sample servers. 

Melissa is survived by her three children, daughter, Heather (Shawn) Woods, sons Eric (Molly) and Kyle (Rachel) Unger.  Melissa is also survived by her two younger sisters, Nancy (Tom) Sutton and Julie (Jimmy) Harrison.  She has nine amazing grandchildren:  Molly (Travis) Walker, Lily Woods, Peighton Unger, Ivan Lepai, Kyra Lepai, Abby Woods, Gavin Unger, Layla Unger, and Mila Unger. And one awesome great-grandson, Silas Shawn Walker!  Plus, she gained a large extended family of friends from the Terra Del Sol Neighborhood.  A Funeral Mass will be held Friday May 12, 2023, at 11 am at Our Mother of Sorrows Church, 1800 S. Kolb Road.   A reception will follow later in the day, at 5 pm at Terra Del Sol Pool 6718 E Calle Marte.
