Obituary of Constance Burke

Constance Burke was called to her heavenly home on March 24, 2023 in Tucson, AZ at the age of 81.  Constance was born in Brooklyn NY on February 15, 1942 to her parents Joseph and Alice Plachetka.  Constance met her husband to be, Patrick, at Pan American in New York where they both worked.  They were married on 1/25/1964 and had three children Joann, Danny, and Patrick and moved the family to New Jersey.  In 1973 Patrick and Constance had to then pick up and move to a dryer climate to help their middle son Danny who was asthmatic and settled on Tucson.  Constance took the three kids and headed to Tucson on her own, not knowing a anyone and without a car , without a job or a car she made her way.  Her husband followed out several months later and the five of then made a home and learned to love the desert.  Patrick found work as a civilian employee on DMAFB and Constance found work in the TUSD school system and retired from TUSD after many years at Peter Howell and Corbett Elementary Schools.

Patrick passed away in 2008 and then in her retirement years Constance ultimately made her home at Tucson Meadows Mobile Home Park where she was very active and made a lot of friends.  If you were a friend of Connie's you were a friend for life. Connie became very involved and busy with, choirs, delivering the park mail, organizing trips to Gaslight Theater, and checking in on other residents.  Constance also loved her weekly visits for Scrabble and chicken foot as well as the lunches and dinners with different women's groups.  Constance was known for her friendly spirit and she loved Hugs (you couldn't leave without getting one), traveling, theatre, Neil Diamond, Paul Newman, turtles, cardinals, quail, sending greeting cards, taking lots and lots of pictures, and most of all... her family.

Constance had six grandchildren (Tyler, Ashley, John Ryan, Noah, Nathan, and Joshua) and five great grandchildren (Chevy, Chloe, Cholston, Hudson and most recently Talon).  She had two furry companions (Maxie and Libby) that kept her company and brought her a lot of joy.  She was a devoted wife, a wonderful mother, a cherished friend, a dedicated employee, a devout Catholic and a very strong woman with a large and tender heart.  Constance is survived by her brother Micheal (Plachetka), three children Joann (Franks), Danny (Burke), and Patrick (Burke), six grandchildren, and five great grandchildren.  A memorial service will be held on Monday April 10, 2023, at 11:30 AM at Our Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church 1800 S.
