Obituary of Michele Lee Ashpole

Dr. Michele Lee Ashpole (60) died March 11, 2023, after an extended illness. She was a loving mother, daughter, grandmother, sister and friend.

She was a beautiful person who had the warmest smile and the biggest heart that made you feel warm inside. She was always spirited and full of life and was well known for charting her own course. She was most proud of her three children and enjoyed spending every minute she could with her new grandson, Leo, as well as her many nieces and nephews. She loved having a full house and was well known for cooking for a small army when she entertained her family and friends. You never left her home hungry.

She received her Bachelors from Drake University, and her Pharmacy Doctorate from University of Arizona. For many years, she was a clinical pharmacist at the VA hospital, before then taking courses to become a Master Gardener and pursue her passion for all plants.

She leaves behind her husband, George; children Nicole (Zach), Grant and Paige (Michael); her grandson, Leo; parents, Gene and Betty; sisters, Laura, Kim and Bridget; and brothers, Todd and Troy; as well as several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by grandparents, Tom and Helen Burke and Charles and Mary Ashpole.

In lieu of a traditional memorial service, it was Michele's desire to be cremated and have her ashes scattered by her children on her favorite mountain. In true Michele-style, the family will be hosting a BBQ at the family home. Details TBD.
