Joseph Nathaniel Hepburn Jr.

Joseph Hepburn Jr was born February 5, 1943, in Harlem, New York to Joseph Hepburn Sr. and Eddie Mae Brown. Joseph Jr was raised by his beloved grandmother (Amy Hepburn) until her death. He was sheltered, protected by the late Marie Hepburn Davis who he loved, respected and Honored as his mother. 
He attended George Washington High school in Manhattan. In 1964 he married Carole Ann Brown who preceded him in death. He worked for the New York City Department of Pest Control for over 20 years, and the Juvenile Justice System until his retirement in 2009. Poppa Joe, as he was lovingly called, was a lover of all things fine dining, theaters, concerts, and the great nightlife of his hometown of New York city. Daddy's greatest love was music, there was always music in our home, he had a melody in his heart and Jazz in his soul He was a wonderful host and looked forward to having friends and family at his home. He had an affection for music so deep that as a child he built his own record player so he could enjoy the music he loved. 
He is preceded in death by two brothers John and Lawrence Hepburn. He is survived by his brother Stanley Hepburn, sister Ellen Gail Jacobs and sister-in-law Janice Hepburn. He's also survived by his children Leslie Franklin- Wheeler (Leroy) of Arizona Shari (Krisy) Hepburn of the Bronx, Ife' Garcia of the Bronx Ne'ema Garcia of Manhattan, and Kobie Garcia (Markia) of Michigan Gyasi Garcia Sr. of Manhattan. Daddy also leaves behind 10 grandchildren La Tiqua Franklin, Shari (Tasia) Harrison, Sean Allen, Julez Martin, Omar Jeffries Jr. Gysai Garcia Jr, Mason Simmons Juzel Martin , Demi Simmons, Hudson Garcia and A Great Grandson Aayden Jackson and a host of nieces , nephews , cousins and many friends.

 

Memoial Service at Bring's Broadway Chapel, Friday, March 24, 2023 at 10:00am with Pastor Mark Bickerton officiating.
