Obituary of Corinne Denise Wilhoit

Corinne Denise Sheil Wilhoit

Corinne (Cori) Denise Sheil Wilhoit, 71, died on March 16, 2023, at her home in Tucson, Arizona. She was born to John L. and Martha M. (Clymens) Sheil on January 20, 1952, in Maryville Missouri.

Corinne graduated from Liberal High School, Liberal, Kansas, in 1970. She graduated in 1974, from Fort Hays State University with her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing. She earned her Master’s Degree in Nursing from the University of Oklahoma in 1995. Cori’s nursing career spanned more than 40 years and she worked in many practice sites, which included Hospital Nursing Management, Surgery, Emergency Room and Nursing Education.

Cori married Tom Wilhoit in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma in 1983. They lived in Oklahoma City for 34 years before moving to Tucson, Arizona where she cared for her aging parents. In Tucson, Cori continued to develop her creative talents in several forms of needle art. She was an accomplished and beautiful needlepoint stitcher.

Corinne was preceded in death by her younger brother, John Edward, and her parents John and Martha Sheil. She is survived by her husband, Tom, son Ryan (AJ) Wilhoit of Kirkland, Washington, daughter, Lea Ann Brown of Moore, Oklahoma, and a sister, Jane Sheil Butler (Mark) of Tucson, Arizona. Cori was also “Gran” and is survived by four grandchildren, Jacie and Whitney Carr and Liv and Ever Wilhoit.

Cori was devoted to her family and friends, always generous with her love, help, support and kind wisdom. She will be missed beyond measure. With gratitude, we celebrate her life.

It was Corinne’s wish to be cremated. A Vigil with Rosary will be held Friday, April 28th at 6:30 p.m. at St. Thomas the Apostle. The Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 29th at St Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 5150 N Valley View Road, Tucson, Arizona 85718. Following Mass, there will be a reception in the St Thomas the Apostle Parish Hall. Internment will be in Resurrection Cemetery, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, in May.
