Obituary of Dorothy Sue Walker Raines

Dorothy Sue Walker Raines was born February 20, 1937 at East Prairie, Missouri, to Earl and Edna Derrington Walker. She married Cleatus Raines on August 7, 1959 in Cape Girardeau, MO. She had two children, Kimberly (Nick) Greer (Tucson Arizona) and Jeffrey (Linda Moxley) Raines (Minneapolis Minnesota). Dorothy had two beloved sisters, Peggy Gross Skelton (Scott City, Missouri) and Sharon Hohler (Cape Girardeau, MO). Dorothy had many nieces and nephews with whom she stayed in close contact.

She graduated from Illmo-Scott City High School in 1955. She was employed by the State of Missouri – Scott County Division of Welfare and the Disability Determinations office in Cape Girardeau, MO. After retiring in 1999, Dorothy and Cleatus moved to Tucson, AZ where they have fully enjoyed their retirement with friends and family in a warmer climate.

She will be remembered for a life well-lived. She is most often described as a kind, sweet, thoughtful person. She loved her family and friends intensely and unconditionally. She was true to her values and faith until the end. While they will miss her every day, her family takes comfort in knowing she is at peace.
