Richard was a dear friend of Mom and Dad (Bud and Shirley Myers) for many years. They lived just down the street from each other and their friendship endured for decades. If you were on Rich's good side...you had a friend for life... :-)
Mom and Dad had a place in Pennsylvania and one year, Richard and Brian came to visit. They had such a good time. Dad had Pennsylvania in his blood and loved to show off that beautiful country. Rich and Brian took time to visit Gettysburg and were in 'hog heaven'. Rich loved history and this was a special piece of it. Mom and Dad would talk about that visit for many years thereafter.
Rich was there for me and family when Dad had heart surgery. And he was there for us a few years later when Dad passed away.
With Mom in hospice recently...he was there for her also, visiting her regularly. He was just there a few weeks ago and I am so very glad I was there as well.
I will forever remember Rich's beaming smile and laughter.
May God be with you Rich Wakefield. We will miss you....

Richard was my late Brother’s, Stephen Mackin, best friend since they met riding the bus to Catalina High School in 1962. We resided in the same fairly new subdivision in Tucson and all ended up attending Palo Verde HS. Often at our home, he was my first crush and my first real date—my parents let him take me to Johnnie’s drive in on Speedway for a hamburger. That was our only date, but the friendship endured all these years and beyond the passing of my brother. We enjoyed sharing family celebrations, joys and sorrows. He invited my husband Lewis & me to a luncheon of the Historic Arms Society that we had heard so much about over the years. Richard was a true friend and a good man. He carries a piece of me away with him. Lewis and I offer our deep condolences to family and all those who knew his friendship. We will miss him.
