MaryGrace Palmer

Obituary of MaryGrace Palmer

MaryGrace Palmer passed away on December 25th, 2022. To everyone that knew her, she was kind and thoughtful and she was also tough, resilient, and stubborn.  It was a combination of these qualities and the love of her family and friends that got her through a two and a half year battle with cancer.  It is our loss that she is gone, but that loss is tempered by the happiness of our memories and time with her, the experiences we shared and the special place she has left in our hearts.

MaryGrace was born in Pomona California on May 10, 1958, moved with her family to Alaska and here and there until they settled in Tucson over 50 years ago, which she has called home ever since.

She was a daddy’s girl, she loved to talk about him and to share the brilliant and beautiful photos he took, many of those of MaryGrace.  She loved to brag about her big-brother Dave who always called her Sissy.

Her greatest joy, her greatest gifts, were the birth of her daughter Kathryn Amanda Wood (Schubert) and her two grandsons Jude in 2014 and Joshua in 2018.  She became Punkin when Jude was learning to talk and MaryGrace was constantly calling him Pumpkin, so he always called her Punkin, it stuck and that is how Jude and Joshua have always known her.

MaryGrace loved all things plants and animals. She had a green thumb and always managed to find the space and time to grow something – an enthusiasm she enjoyed sharing with Jude and Joshua.

If our life after is what we wish for most, MaryGrace’s will be alongside her dad on a farm. She will be raising chickens, goats, rabbits and a menagerie of other animals, growing beautiful thriving plants and always and forever at the center of her dad’s photography.

MaryGrace is missed so much already, survived by her daughter Kathryn Amanda Wood, son-in-law Brandon Wood grandson’s Jude Wood and Joshua Wood, her brother David Palmer and sister-in-law Lisé Palmer and so many loving friends and family.  We love you Punkin. “There’s no kin like Punkin.”
