Obituary of Edward B. Havens

Edward Bruce Havens

December 6, 1941 – November 7, 2022

Ed was born in Media, Pennsylvania, to Kenneth and Betty Havens. He was preceded in death by both parents, his brother Alan Havens, and his daughter Christine Havens Liefer. He is survived by his son, Stephen Havens, Stepson Daniel Pearce (Maria Barr), his Granddaughters; Sarah Liefer, Kylie Liefer and Ex-Wife, Kate Havens.

Ed graduated from Antioch College with a bachelor’s degree in Accounting. After graduation he joined the US Army and was assigned to Armed Forces Radio and spent a year in Saigon. When discharged from the Army he moved to Tucson and began his long career in journalism including News Director and Anchor at a local TV station. He then went to work for the United Press International (UPI) in Phoenix, AZ and after 18 months was promoted to Bureau Chief, UPI Tucson where he remained until his retirement in 1991.

Ed passed away at the Southern Arizona VA Hospital after a very short illness. He will be missed by family and friends.
