Obituary of Harry Mitchell Brannam

On Tuesday, July 19, 2022, Harry Brannam, loving husband, and father, passed away peacefully at his home at the age of 79. Harry was born on July 22, 1942, in Buchanan, Georgia to Georgiamae (Holcombe) Brannam and J.W. Brannam. He grew up in Georgia and was the high school quarterback his senior year. He joined the military when he was seventeen years old and served three tours of duty in Vietnam between 1968 and 1970. In 1968, he married Margaret (O’Callaghan) Brannam. Throughout their marriage they lived in Wyoming and the Philippines, and later settling in Tucson, Arizona. Harry enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, and spent a lot of time going camping, hunting, and fishing throughout the Arizona area. He also enjoyed working on cars and watching sports, especially boxing and football. He worked for 30 years after his military career in civil service and as a private contractor. Harry was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret, his parents, and grandson Derek Dewberry. He is survived by his six children, Jeff (Gwen) McKinney, Lisa (Gus) Sambrano, Teresa McKinney, Suzanne (Tim) Bollinger, Chris Brannam, and Karen (Brannam) Dewberry; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; and dear friends Debbie and Lucius Brown, and Monique Dixon. A memorial service will be held Thursday, July 28, 2022, at 3 p.m. at Bring’s Broadway Chapel 6910 E. Broadway Blvd. Tucson, AZ 85710.
