 John Henry Hedspeth, III

Beloved Husband, Father and Grandfather, a proud veteran of the United States Navy, passed away suddenly to be with the Lord on February 1st, at the age of 92. The son of Ruby Ray and Tonita Esther Hedspeth, He was born on November 13, 1929 in Tucumcari, New Mexico. John grew up in Amarillo, Texas and was the oldest of four brothers. He attended Amarillo High School and Price College where he studied electronics.
At the age of eighteen, John enlisted in the US Navy. He valued this service highly and attained the rank of Petty Officer, 3rd Class. He served in the Korean war as a radioman aboard the US Navy Patrol Escort Ship, the USS PCE 886, the Auxiliary Minesweeper, USS Swallow and the Admiral Class Minesweeper, the USS Pledge and was involved in several important combat operations.
John served active duty from 1948 to 1951. After his service, John would become an accomplished private pilot and held certifications for scuba diving as well as skydiving and would go on to have a successful career in the banking industry.
John Hedspeth is survived by his Wife Nyla and their two sons Kevin and Jeff, two sons John Wayne and Ken Ray, nine Grandchildren and his brother, Harold Hedspeth.
A service honoring the life of John Henry Hedspeth will be held at Brings Broadway Chapel, 6910 E. Broadway on February 25th at 1pm.
