Obituary of Carolyn June Vance

Carolyn June Holmes Vance passed away peacefully at home and in her own bed on Sunday, February 5, 2012 at about 2:25 a.m. Mom was born January 31, 1924, daughter of Milburn and Pauline (Thomas) Holmes and follows her husband, Lt. Col. Richard Grant "Rusty" Vance and her daughter, Cynthia Kaye (Vance) Moret-Lee. She is survived by two sons and a daughter, Gary Alan, Julie Elizabeth (Garrettson) and R. "Scott" Vance. She is also survived by her stepson, Richard Grant "Rick" Fritschy and her brother and sister, Robert Holmes and Jasemine Holmes Barnes. She was grandmother to six and great-grandmother "GG" to five. She graduated Tucson High School in 1942 with many cherished friends. Being a devoted wife and mother meant living all over the U.S. for Rusty's 27-year Air Force career. Still, most of her 88 years were spent in Tucson, creating wonderful clothes and amazing quilts that are favorites to all who were lucky enough to receive them. She was also a voracious reader. She kept abreast of news and politics in the papers and TV as well as devouring mysteries and novels and amassing an extensive collection of books - one of her many treasures. We all miss you very much, Mom. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, February 18, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at BRING'S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway Blvd.
