Obituary of Jerome C Golanski

Jerome C. Golanski 88, passed away on February 6, 2012. He was born on September 4, 1923 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Frankie Lynn Golanski; sister, Marcy Szymanski of Milwaukee, WI; nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, Martha and Alvin Golanski; two brothers, Irvin and Joe; nephew, Jimmy Szymanski. In his youth years Jerry sold newspapers on Brady Street in East Milwaukee. Jerry graduated from Saint Hedwigs Roman Catholic School in Milwaukee. After graduation from high school he started an apprenticeship as a Meat Cutter and became a professional Meat Cutter. During World War II he enlisted in the United States Army and served in the Pacific Ocean Areas. He later attended Officer Training School and upon his commission as a 2nd Lieutenant he served in the United States Army Air Corp as a Navigator and Bombardier on B17 Flying Fortress Bombers. At the end of World War II he returned to his profession as a Meat Cutter. Because of health reasons Jerry changed his career to Traffic Engineering Specialist and worked with the City of Milwaukee Street Department until his retirement in 1986, when he and his wife, Frankie moved to Tucson, AZ and have been parishioners at Saint Francis De Sales Parish. For those who met Jerry, he will always be remembered as the Old Geezer with decent values and common sense. He was very energetic and willing to help his neighbors and others. Viewing will be at 9:00 a.m., Friday, February 10, 2012 at Saint Francis De Sales Parish, 1375 S. Camino Seco and Mass will be offered at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Our Lady of The Desert Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Saint Francis De Sales Parish.
