Obituary of Paul Quintus Monier

Paul Quintus Monier 83, of Tucson, passed away after a courageous battle with illness on Thursday, Feb 9, 2012. A fourth generation Tucsonan, he was born to the late Paul and Wilma Monier on Feb. 21, 1928. Paul was an Eagle Scout and head lifeguard at local Tucson public swimming pools. He graduated from Tucson High School in 1945 and received a B.S. degree from the University of Arizona in 1949, lettering all four years in swimming. Paul served his country as a lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross. He married Jane Ellen Minear in 1952, and resided in Tucson raising 5 children. An accomplished businessman, Paul started Monier Insurance Agency and ran his business until he retired in 1994. He was an active member of St Pius X Catholic Church, and an avid supporter of University of Arizona sports. Paul was especially devoted to his wife Jane, his children, and grandchildren. Paul is survived by his wife, Jane, his five children and their spouses: Beth (Mike) Johnson, Paul Michael (Kathy), Mark (Melanie), Tom (Lisa), and James. His brothers and sisters-in law: John (Sarah), Philip, and Larry (Jane). Paul was very proud of his grandchildren: Marianne (Steve) Gould, Andrea, Amy, Catherine (Chris) Walter, Damien, Emily, Mackenzie, Alexis, Brandon, and great-grandchild, Makaela Johnson. A Celebration of Life Mass will be held at St. Pius X Catholic Church at 1800 N. Camino Pio Decimo, Tucson, AZ on Thursday, February 16 at 11:00 am. There will be a viewing at 10:00 am, and a reception will immediately follow the Mass. Burial service will be at 1:45 pm at Holy Hope Cemetery.
