Obituary of Juanita Connor Grace

Juanita Connor Grace, born in Nowata Co., Okla. on Aug. 16, 1917 and entered into rest on Feb. 16, 2012. Daughter of Hazel Jarrett Connor and Albert Alexander Connor. She was a proud Cherokee-Delaware American. Upon graduating from Capitol Hill High School, Okla. City, she worked at Douglass Aircraft and at the outbreak of WWII, enlisted in the US Army Air Force and was stationed at Love Field, Dallas, TX. After the war she lived in Corpus Christi, TX, where she met and married Walter J. Grace III. In 1961 they moved to Tucson where she was active in the Republican Party and wrote prolifically for several newspapers. She was instrumental in supporting and teaching in the Head Start program at Manzo School and the Adult Education program there as well. In later years she earned a Masters Degree in counseling & guidance from the University of Arizona and practiced in this field for some time, including working w/terminally ill patients at St. Mary Hospice. She is preceded in death by her husband of 59yrs., Walter J. Grace III, and her son Michael Alexander Grace, Capt. USMC. She is survived by her grandson, Sean Alexander Grace, her sister in law, Agnes Grace Crump, and numerous nieces and nephews and cousins. Memorial service 3pm, Friday February 24, 2012 at BRING'S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway Blvd.
