Obituary of Nathan Berkman

Nathan Berkman Passed away April 7, 2012 in Tucson. Son of Annie and Harry Berkman (deceased), was born in Manhattan, New York on May 3, 1923 and raised in Brooklyn, NY. He is survived by his wife of 68 wonderful years, Lorraine, whom he married in 1941. He served in active duty in the Army Air Corp. during WWII. He owned and operated his own business in Baltimore, Maryland, Nationwide Auto Parts, until retiring to Tucson. He loved his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, taking them on many trips and spending valuable time with them. Nat loved Far Horizons RV Park where he learned to paint, to do stained glass, and took Bridge lessons. He always loved learning new things and was an outstanding story teller. He will be greatly missed and lived his life to the fullest. In addition to his beloved wife Lorraine, Nat is survived by his daughters; Rona (Paul-deceased) Schrum of Baltimore, MD and Sherry Lijek of Tucson. Grandchildren, Laura (Tom) Lynch of Great Falls, MT; Deb (Tim) Batten of Tucson; Myra Lijek and partner Rosine Marschke of Tucson and Joe (Shannon) Lijek of San Francisco, CA; great grandchildren, Sean and Kelly Lynch of Great Falls, MT; two nephews, Bill Seidman and Alan Weinstein, three nieces, Jan Rice, Katie Greene and Lanie Homberg. Nat was preceded in death by one brother, Leon Berkman. Funeral Services Tuesday (Today) April 10, 2012, 2:00 pm at BRING’S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway, Rabbi Tom Locheim officiating.
