Obituary of Norma Jean Mills

Norma Jean Mills Was born August 2, 1922 in Philadelphia, PA and passed away on May 13, 2012. Norma was preceded in death by her parents John and Ethel Ritter; sister, Thelma (Teddy) Metcalf and her beloved husband of 63 years, William F. Mills. She is survived by her children, Gerri Daum and Bill (Ruth) Mills of New Jersey; Susan (Edward) Smedley of Tucson; brother-in-law, Bill Metcalf of Tucson; seven grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Mills was a graduate of Rider University. She had been employed as an office manager at IBM and was also a legal secretary in NJ prior to moving to Tucson in 1968. She was a secretary of TUSD for 13 years. Mrs. Mills was an active member of Christ Church United Methodist where she sang in the Chancel Choir for 38 years. She was a former member of Las Bonitas Chapter of the ABWA; the Let's Dance Club of Tucson; the WOW Bible study group of Christ Community Church and a tap dancer with the Prune Juice Follies. There will be a visitation at Christ Church United Methodist, 655 N. Craycroft Rd. on Friday, May 18, 2012 at 10:00 am with service to follow at 11:00 am. A private burial service will take place in the Mausoleum at Holy Hope Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to Christ Church United Methodist or the charity of your choice.
