Albert Lopez

Obituary of Albert R Lopez

Survived by his beloved wife Connie, his daughter Christina (Robert), two grandsons, Paul and Mark, his brother Willie (Josie) and numerous nieces, nephews and godchildren. One of 13 siblings, he was loved by many and respected by all that knew him. He may have been a man of few words, but he was also a man of infinite wit and kindness. Words could not come close to truly describing just how nice of a person he was. To him, family was everything. If anything was broken around the house, he could fix it, if something was lost, he would find it. He was a legendary fisherman, an amazing hunter, and devoted Catholic. A Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus, he never missed church on Sunday. He was awarded three Bronze Stars while he served with the 158th Regimental Combat Unit “The Bushmasters” in WWII. He loved his backyard just as much as listening to canciones, watching an old western or war movie, or sitting in his favorite chair. Not only did he build the house he lived in, but he also led the construction of the copper roof that surrounds McKale Center. He made the best pot of frijoles, and an excellent pot of menudo. In the morning, he savored his chorizo with eggs and tortillas. He was a remarkable man through and through, and right now, is in a boat on one of Heavens lakes, waiting for a fish to bite. Please join family and friends for Visitation Thursday, June 7, 2012, from 6-8pm at BRING’S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6901 E. Broadway. Rosary will begin promptly at 7pm.
