Obituary of Walter N. Roberts

Walter Neal Roberts Born April 8, 1935, in Springfield, Massachusetts entered into eternal rest on August 6, 2012, in Tucson, Arizona. Walter graduated from high school in Springfield Mass. and entered seminary in Washington, D.C. He continued his education at Belmont Abbey College in North Carolina receiving his BA in Philosophy with a Minor in Sociology in 1959. He was a teacher from 1961-1966, worked for the Connecticut Department of Corrections as a counselor and eventually moved to Arizona and retired from the Department of Corrections in 2002. He was a Fourth Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus St. Joseph Council #8813. Walter was a man of faith, an avid reader and supported many charities across the country. Preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Anna Roberts and his only sibling, Edward J. Roberts. Walter is survived by his niece, Amanda Chambers (Wade) of Salisbury, MD; great-niece, Paris Cole of Baltimore, MD; cousins, George Ireland (Sheila) of Somers, CT, John Ireland (Mary) of Delmar, NY, Joan Montana (Gus) of Chapel Hill, NC and James Blanchard (Kathy) of Tucson, AZ. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 14, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Francis De Sales Church, 1375 S. Camino Seco. Rosary recited at 9:00 a.m. Interment to follow at a later date in Bonita, Arizona. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your favorite charity in Walters's name.
