Obituary of Ronald Glenn Green

Ronald Green of Tucson, AZ, a former resident of Santa Maria, CA entered eternal life on August 28, 2012. Ron leaves behind his loving wife of 51 years, Ann Green of Tucson; his children, Joseph and Lynn Green of Barstow, CA, Greg and Ruth Green of Vail, AZ and Bob and Nancy Ostini of Santa Maria, CA; and nine grandchildren who loved him dearly, Laura Green, Christian Green, Joe Green, Casey Green, Irving Green, Nicolas Green, Joshua Ostini, Cherith Ostini and Brandi Garcia. Ron was born September 30, 1942 in Kewanee, Illinois. He joined the United States Air Force in 1959 and married his wife Ann in 1961. They very soon were posted overseas but returned to the States in 1964, their family now including two young sons. After being honorably discharged from the Air Force in 1965, Ron began his career in the newspaper business at the Coeur d'Alene Press (Idaho) and the Hagadone Newspaper Group, a subsidiary of Hagadone Corporation. In 1975, he and his family moved to Santa Maria, CA so that he could step into expanded responsibilities at the Santa Maria Times. He retired in 2006. Ron was a faithful and loving husband and a father who modeled humility, sacrifice, responsibility and compassion. He loved people and loved to laugh and was passionate about politics, fishing, reading, baseball and chess. He said many times that the decision to marry Ann was the best decision of his life, second only to acknowledging Jesus as his Savior in 1975. Many will miss his wise counsel and his effervescent encouragement. He passed on a legacy of faith to his family and to all others to whom he came into contact. Visitation from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., Tuesday, September 4, 2012 at BRING’S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway, with a funeral service to follow at 10:00 a.m. at Grace to The Nations, 6180 E. Pima St. Burial will be at 1:00 p.m. at Southern Arizona Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Sierra Vista.
