Obituary of Wayne Clinton Goodman

Wayne Clinton Goodman son of Rena Vance and William Nicholas Goodman was born March 28, 1924 in St. David, Arizona. He lived a life of service to his fellowman, his country and to God. Wayne was drafted at age 18 into WWII and served as a Sergeant storming the beaches of Anzio, Italy. He received the Purple Heart for his valiant service and injuries sustained. He met and married the love of his life Norma Jean, and together they raised a family of eight beautiful children, 48 grandchildren and 66 great- grandchildren. He left a legacy of hard work, honesty and faith. He was also an active businessman and helped develop Goodman Tire Co. in South Tucson. Wayne held many positions of responsibility in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints including missionary in Tampico, Mexico, Bishop and Counselor in the Stake Presidency. Wayne not only served in church but also in the community â€" he was a member of the board for the South Tucson municipal government and spearheaded the Mormon Battalion entry each year in the rodeo parade. He loved scouting and received the Silver Beaver, one of scouting's highest honors. Wayne enjoyed visiting and helping people and loved the outdoors. On Saturday, September 22, 2012 he had his last breath in this life with family around him. He was preceded in death by his wife. The Funeral Services will be held on Friday, September 28, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at the Tucson Stake Center building of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 105 North Norton in Tucson.
