Obituary of Jessie Yvonne DePasse Davison

Jessie Yvonne DePasse Davison 95, a resident of Tucson since 1956, left this earth for her heavenly reward on October 18, 2012. Born in Heavener, OK, March 26, 1917, Yvonne married Alfonce DePasse, October 12, 1935. Their oldest child, Dennis, was born in OK. During WW2, they moved to CA where Sonja was born. The DePasses were residents of Carlsbad, NM from 1945 - 1956 and their youngest child, Danny was born during that time. Yvonne is survived by her three children, Dennis DePasse (Zella), Sonja DePasse Mullis (Dave) and Danny DePasse (Paulette); six grandchildren, Steve, Darren, Rhett, Shane, Josette and J.R.; 10 great-grandchildren and her sister, Ione Autrey. Yvonne graduated valedictorian of her high school class but did not have the opportunity to attend college until she was 40 years old. Even though she wasn't sure she could keep up with the "young kids" in her classes, she managed to earn her bachelor's degree at the U of A the same spring as her oldest child, Dennis. She began teaching third grade at Blenman Elementary the following fall and continued her studies at the U of A, earning her Master's degree the same year as her second child, Sonja. Yvonne spent many happy years at Blenman and then transferred to Henry Elementary where she finished her career teaching first grade. After Al passed away in August 1980, Yvonne met Charles Davison. They married in February 1983. In 1991, they began making yearly trips to Ukraine, teaching English using the Bible as a text. After Charles' death in 1996, Yvonne continued those trips until she was into her 80's and physically unable to continue. Yvonne was a beloved member of the East View Church of Christ and her presence there will be missed by all. Viewing will be Saturday, October 27, 2012 from 4:00 p.m. -6:00 p.m. at BRING'S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway. Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, October 28, 2012 at 11:15 a.m. at the East View Church of Christ, 4606 E. Pima St. Burial will follow at East Lawn where Yvonne will rest beside her beloved husband and father of her children, Al. Memorials may be made to Lakeview Christian Home, 1905 W.
