Obituary of Eugene J. Crans

Eugene J. Crans, born June 18, 1933 in Caledonia, MI, passed away on October 28, 2012. Served in the U.S. Army 1950-1953 and 1955-1976, retiring after 24 years as a Sergeant Major from Fort Pickett, VA on November 1, 1976. A second career ensued with the JROTC Department with the Grand Rapids Public Schools in Grand Rapids, MI. After having taught at Ottawa Hills High School, Union High School and serving as the Assistant Director of Army instruction, retired in 1991 in Tucson, AZ. Preceded in death by his brothers, Claude W. and Henry S. (Virginia) Survived by his wife of 22 years, Sondra M. (Leonard-Maksymowski), 5 children, Phillip J. of Augusta, GA, Phyllis K. of Columbus, GA, Peter E. (Susan) of Fremont, MI, Perry L. of Fremont, MI and Patrick B. (Lynn) of Tucson, AZ, 2 stepsons, Jeffrey M. Maksymowski (Marsene) of San Diego, CA, Steven L. Maksymowski (Leah) of Wilmington, NC and a stepdaughter, Shari M. Maksymowski of San Diego, CA, 18 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Also survived by brothers, Robert C. (Pat) of Middleville, MI, Robert K. of Wyoming, MI and David A. (Cathy) of Dyersburg, TN. Visitation will be 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm, Thursday, November 1, 2012, at BRING'S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway. Funeral Service will be 10:00 am, Friday, November 2, 2012 also at BRING'S BROADWAY CHAPEL. Burial to follow at Desert Vista Cemetery.
