Obituary of Louis A. Modica

Louis Anthony Modica Passed away peacefully in his home on November 18, 2012. He was 79 years old. Lou was born in New York City on June 8, 1933. He was the eldest of three sons born to Dr. Anthony and Helen (Gallo) Modica. In 1951 he graduated from Forest Hills High School. In 1955 he graduated from Seton Hall University and married June Holt in October of that same year. They met on a blind date set up by their best friends and were married for 57 years. Lou was an employee of General Motors for 20 years before he and his family moved to Tucson, AZ in 1975. Lou loved the warm weather and relaxed lifestyle of the southwest. In Tucson he worked as a salesperson for over 30 years in the recreation vehicle and mobile home industries. His outgoing manner and hard work ethic led him to be named both salesman of the month and year several times throughout his career. Lou loved to take cruises to Europe and especially to Italy. He was extremely proud of his Italian-American heritage. He was an avid sports fan and was happiest cheering on his favorite sports teams: The NY Giants, NY Mets, and the University of Arizona Basketball team. Lou is survived by his wife June, son, Paul Modica (Kingston, NY), daughter, Kim (Modica) Roesslein (San Ramon, CA), brothers Ralph (Smithtown, NY) and Anthony (Tucson, AZ), and his granddaughters, Riley and Chloe (San Ramon, CA).
