Obituary of Guadalupe Castellano

Guadalupe Castellano age 86, of Tucson, Arizona, passed away peacefully at home on December 14, 2012. He was born on December 12, 1926 in Bisbee, AZ to Urbano and Simona Castellano. Upon returning from active military service, Lupe married Elisa Jaramillo on May 1, 1954. The two celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary this past May. The majority of Lupe's career as a welder was spent working at Bisbee's Copper Queen Mine. He and his wife raised their seven children in the Catholic faith. Lupe was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great- grandfather. He is survived by his loving wife, Elisa; four daughters, Yvonne (Russell), Martha, Diana (Eric) and Ann; three sons, David, Patrick (Michelle), Michael (Theresa); 19 grandchildren and 13 great- grandchildren. Lupe, the youngest of 12 siblings, was the final survivor of the large family. He served our country in the United States Army during WWII and the Korean War and enjoyed sharing stories of his military experiences. He was passionate about spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren in celebration of life's many milestones including homecomings, birthdays, holidays and sacraments. Having spent much of his life living in the quiet and natural surroundings of southeastern Arizona, he longed to return to his home in Bisbee Junction where wildlife, monsoon storms, and the starry night sky captivated his soul. He was a quiet man of great patience, endurance and spirituality. This was very evident to the very end of his life on earth. He attended daily Mass in his retirement and prayed the rosary daily until his last hour. He was deeply loved by his children and all his family. The family is deeply grateful for the outpouring of love, prayers, and support from relatives and friends, with special mention to Casa de la Luz Hospice. Visitation will be held at BRING'S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway Blvd., Tucson, AZ, 85710 on Friday, December 21, 2012 at 5:00 p.m. with a Rosary Service at 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, December 22, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church, 1800 S. Kolb Rd., Tucson, AZ, 85710. Interment with military honors will take place at the Veterans' Memorial Cemetery in Ft Huachuca, AZ.
