Obituary of Floyd Weil

Floyd E. Weil Jr. 84, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 25, 2012. Floyd was born on June 14, 1928 in Ohio to Floyd and Lucille Weil. Floyd joined the navy after high school graduation in 1946 and served as a navy musician aboard the USS Missouri. Floyd served a second time during the Korean War as a musician on the USS Albany and the USS Valley Forge. He graduated from the University of Arizona with a Masters of Music Education. Floyd was a member of the U of A Music Department faculty and also taught from elementary through high school grade levels. Floyd was well known as a professional musician and over his long career performed with various groups which included the Tucson Symphony, dance bands, big bands, country western bands, brass bands and German polka bands. Most recently Floyd was conductor of the Green Valley Concert Band for 10 years. He is survived by his loving wife, Diana, daughters Lori Allen, Dawn Howard (Brett), and Ann Weil, 8 grandchildren and 14 great grand-children, sister Loretta Ross (Richard) and brother Lester Weil (Peggy), step children Lori Lamb and David Englet (Tammy), 6 step grandchildren and 13 step great grandchildren. Floyd's family would like to thank Hospice Family Care for their loving care and support. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, January 2, 2012 at BRING'S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E.
