Obituary of Juanita H. Jaramillo

Juanita H. Jaramillo November 24, 1920 â€" January 8, 2013 Juanita Heredia Jaramillo, 92, went to heaven on January 8, 2013 to keep a date she had pending with the love of her life, Luis Rosas Jaramillo. Juanita was born 11/24/1920 to Mary & Moises Heredia in La Piedad, Michoacan, Mexico. She was the eldest of five children. It was in La Piedad that she first met her future husband, Luis Rosas Jaramillo, as a young child. Many years later, after both families had immigrated to the U.S., Luis and Juanita reconnected in Pittsburg and fell in love. They were married on 11/30/1942 in Pittsburg, California and started their family a few years later with the birth of their first child, Rachel. When WWII began, Juanita went to work at a cannery, canning sardines, which she vehemently remembered with distate, in order to help provide for her family. She spent many years travelling between California and Guadalajara, Mexico as her husband was assisting with his family. In the 50's, the family moved to Nogales, Mexico and Arizona. Her sister, Rosemary, and family followed soon after and the Heredia clan in Arizona began to grow. Juanita was then blessed with her youngest two children, Jesus and Elizabeth. In 1976, Juanita lost the love of her life to cancer and remained a widow for her remaining 36 years. Juanita was a devout Catholic and shared her love with all of her family and friends. She was very involved in her prayer groups and helping the "sisters" at the orphanage across the line. This, of course, was in addition to making sure her family was cared for and enjoyed her time and grand heart. When Juanita's mom, Mary, moved to Arizona, Juanita and Mary lived together, to keep an eye on one another. As everyone aged, Juanita became more of a care giving daughter to Mary, with her sister, Rosemary's, help. They were a pair! While in Nogales, Juanita retired (the first time) from Capin & Co, a department store where she loved to work, and later loved to shop with a discount. She then went to The Americana Hotel and ran the hotel sundries store for many years. She was a business woman at heart. After her second retirement, Juanita moved to Tucson to be closer to her family. Her mom soon followed, where she, once again, lived with Juanita until the last years of her life dictated a different setting. Juanita bought a house three blocks away from Rachel and her family and was able to, once again, enjoy the closeness of family. Of course, Juanita went back to work for the local schools as a teachers' aide and at TriTronics, producing dog collars. She finally retired and continued working in her garden. Juanita was often found outside, working in her garden. Her gardens were a passion in her life. From sweet smelling gardenias to tasty strawberry plants; rosebushes and pansies; her beautiful Bird of Paradise plant and her Jacaranda tree: there wasn't a spot in the garden that was not filled with the brightest of colors and the sweetest of fragrances. Walks through her garden, as she pointed out the various beauties. could rival a small botanical garden. And always by her side was one of her best friends: front Maxine (the dog who belonged to all). D-O-G (her Doberman). Boogie (her Doberinan). Lucky (the Lab). and then Little Lucky (her Cairn Terrier). Her surviving Little Lucky will miss her terribly. She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law. Rachel and Joe Pacheco.
