Christine (Christy) Denise Koeppel

September 8, 1981 – September 29, 2021

Christy Koeppel, age 40, of Tucson, Arizona passed away peacefully at home on the 29th of September 2021. Christy was born September 8, 1981, in Tucson, Arizona. She spent her early years in Tucson, then moved to Jackson Hole, Wyoming with her mom where she attended Junior High and High School. Christy attended the University of Arizona graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology. After completing her bachelor’s, she began working at the Department of Child Safety (DCS) in Tucson, Arizona where she dedicated her career to protecting children. While working she completed a master’s program and earned a Master of Social Work at Arizona State University. Christy remained at DCS until February 2020 when she became unable to continue her work due to her illness. At this time she and Abbie went to live with her mom and stepdad. Christy will always be remembered for her genuine kindness, gentle demeanor, and good-natured quick wit. Christy enjoyed dancing with her Zumba friends, being a dog mom to Kylie and Abbie, and had a lifelong love of wolves.

Christy is survived by her parents Kathy (David) Peters and Harold Koeppel of Tucson, Arizona; sister Cheryl (Larry) Vinyard of Tucson, Arizona; stepsister Nicole (Keith Steelhammer) Peters of Corpus Christi, Texas; a stepbrother David (Lisa) Peters of Spring, Texas; loving Uncles, Aunts and Cousins; and many friends. Christy was preceded in death by her Grandparents Robert and Jo Dean Hansen and Grandmother Lorraine Koeppel.
