Obituary of Richard A. Gladson

Richard “Dick” A. Gladson

April 14, 1935 - August 9, 2021

Born near the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains in eastern Tennessee, Dick was an outdoorsman.  Raised by his grandparents, Hillyard and Mamie Lee Woody. His parents were James Allen Gladson and Mattie Jane Kennedy.

Dick  worked as a union member of IATSE 415 for over 30 years,  performing as  business agent, projectionist, and film/stage.

It was at Catalina Theatre near The University of Arizona that he met his wife, Joan, together for over 42 years. They enjoyed hiking, backpacking, rafting, bike riding, travel and photographing their adventures. He will be deeply missed but will live on in the impact he made to others and the life lessons he gave his loved ones.

There will be a Memorial Service held in his honor on Friday, September 3, 2021 10:30 am at St. Thomas the Apostle 5150 N. Valley View Rd Tucson, Az.

Please continue to honor Dick’s passion for the natural world and caring for others by donating to The Love Everyday Foundation (Loveeverday.org) and Grand Canyon River Guides (gcrg.org) in lieu of flowers.
