Obituary of Betty Jean Monacell

Betty Jean Monacell
January 11, 1944 – July 13, 2021, Tucson, Arizona

Betty Jean “Hootes” Carter Monacell, a wonderful mother, wife, sister, and friend, left us on July 13, 2021, in Tucson Arizona. Betty was born in Los Angeles, California on January 11, 1944, to Philip Carter and Ruby (Gibson) Carter.  She attended Salpointe Catholic High School in Tucson, graduating in 1962. She married Tim (TJ) Monacell, another Salpointe grad, in 1964 in Tucson.

Betty’s heart and mind were deeply affected by her Christianity which galvanized, fed, and consoled her. She had many wonderful qualities, but the one that stood out was her complete devotion to her friends.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents and her youngest son, Matt. She has two surviving wonderful sons Michael and Mark. three grandchildren, Carter, Sydney, and Sami, and three great grandchildren, Jackson, Lucas, and Lincoln.

Betty was very supportive of three charities: Gospel Rescue Mission, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, and the Humane Society of Southern Arizona.  In lieu of flowers, she would be very pleased with a contribution in her name.

A Celebration of Betty’s life will be planned sometime in the future.  She will be truly missed until we meet again.
