Kenyon Sanders Getz

Obituary of Kenyon James Sanders Getz

On Thursday, April 15, 2021, Kenyon James Sanders Getz, loving son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin and friend, passed away at the age of 15.  Kenyon was born on July 25, 2005 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Tucson, Arizona to Benjamin Getz and Carrie Sanders Getz.  He attended Micha Mountain High School as a Freshman in honors classes and achieved recognition from the Dean’s list with a 3.863 GPA.

Kenyon was incredibly kind, generous and loving.  He had a drive to achieve and a plan to succeed and perfection was a common goal for this hardworking young man.  He had a passion for animals, art and baseball and his wide smile and infectious laugh won him friends everywhere he went.  As a youngster, his family quickly nicknamed him “Monkey Boy” for his ability to climb cupboards and scale walls at eighteen months old.  By the time Kenyon was in middle school, he was fascinated with space and planned his future in astronomy and astro-engineering.  His close friends were held with the highest regard, but none more than the strong bond he had with his dad.  Together they would take apart, fix, build, figure out and tinker with everything they could get their hands on.  They were the dynamic duo and the very best of friends.

Kenyon’s close-knit family and friends will feel his tremendous loss and remember the incredibly sensitive, fiercely loyal and pragmatic boy that brought them a lifetime of happiness, joy and peace in the short time he was here.  Kenyon was preceded in death by his grandmother, Ellen Getz, grandfather, Gary Sanders and grandmother, Dorothy (Mendele) Sanders.  He is survived by his father and mother, Benjamin and Carrie (Sanders) Getz, brother, Taedon Sanders Gray, sister, Kiana Sanders Getz, grandfather, Robert Getz, aunts and uncles, Sondra Getz, Carl and Sharon Getz, Mike and Naomi (Getz) Cokash, Aaron and Sarah (Getz) Molnar, Shem and Lucy Getz and countless cousins.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, April 23, 2021 at 10:00AM - Because of capacity restrictions due to Covid, this will be for family only.  An informal gathering will follow at Rancho Valencia Recreation with food/drinks starting at 11:30AM and open to all who wish to come and celebrate Kenyon’s life with his family and loved ones.  We hope to see you there.
