Edward L. Smith, 61

Ed Smith passed away on February 22, 2021.  Born in Heidelberg, Germany to Felix and Lea Smith, Ed was raised and lived in Tucson before building his dream home in Vail, Arizona.  His beloved son, Lucas, survives him.  Ed is also survived by his brothers Gary (Cookie) and Randy, sisters Linda, Valerie (Jan) and Penny (Jim) and nephews Robert, Brandon, Dustin and niece, Danielle. Ed recently retired from Farmers Insurance where he worked as a Special Claims Representative for many years. He loved Arizona and his job allowed him to see and explore the diversity and beauty of Southern Arizona.  At his home in Vail, Ed enjoyed working on various projects from automotive and welding to tending to his abundant fruit orchard. If a neighbor or friend was in need, Ed was always there to lend a helping hand.  It is ironic that a man with such a big, kind heart should pass away due to complications from heart failure. Ed was dearly loved and will be missed by many. There will be a Celebration of Life at a future date.
