Obituary of Robert Leroy Miles
Robert Leroy “Bob” Miles, 88, passed away peacefully, on January 20, 2021, at home where he was surrounded by his family. He was born on November 4, 1932 in Sandy Hook, Kentucky. He graduated from Elliott County High School and soon after joined the United States Air Force.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sophie (Salazar), his parents; Lonnie and Maxie “Mayse” Miles, his brothers; Elwood, George, Edward and Daniel, his sisters; Beatrice Blair, Loretta Miles, Bernice Hamric, Geraldine Hoffman, and Christine Parsons, as well as his beloved brother-in-law, Raymond Salazar, and his precious grandson, Joseph Luke Miles.
He is survived by his children; Brenda (Robert) Linarez, Robert Jr., and Scott (Lupita); his grandchildren; Stephanie, Sarah (Ryan), Ashley, Andrea, Adam, Dakota, Hunter, and Faith; and his three great grandchildren; Jordyn, Julianna, and Lincoln. He also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, and family in Kentucky that he kept in touch with and loved dearly.
Robert proudly served his country for 37 years. He retired as a Senior Master Sergeant from the Arizona Air National Guard, 162nd Wing, on April 28, 1989. He was honored to be chosen as part of the team that brought the first F-16’s to the Air National Guard from Germany in 1969.
He loved the outdoors where he enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, and golfing. Bob was a member of the Southern Arizona Hiking Club for many years.
Bob loved his family and treasured his friends.
Visitation will be at 9:00 AM with a funeral service to begin at 10:00 AM on Thursday Janaury 28, 2021 at Bring's Broadway Chapel 6910 East Broadway Boulevard, Tucson. Burial with full military honors to follow in Holy Hope Cemetery, Tucson.
