Dennis was my boss at AMARG. He was a great supervisor. I knew he was going to be a good supervisor on his 3rd day in the Facility section. A day that I was supposed have already left to go home Dennis got a phone call from his supervisor. The phone was on speaker phone and this supervisor started complaining about me. She was insulting me She didn't know that I was listening to the whole conversation. Dennis layed into her. He said, "I don't appreciate you talking about my people in that way. Fabian has been instrumental in teaching me what I don't know about this Facilities section."
I can remember only one time that Dennis got mad at me and it was a funny misunderstanding. I was talking about how I wasn't going to give in to the stupid stuff that AMARG was wanting us to do. I said, "I am sorry Dennis I am not just going to drink the Kool Aid." He thought that I was making a prejudice remark. I had to explain that the saying came from when Jim Jones got his whole cult of 900 people called The Peoples Temple, to commit mass suicide by drinking Kool Aid laced with cyanide. Dennis thought that I was making a racist statement about black people. I said, " I thought you knew me better then that. I had to explain what drinking the Kool Aid meant. We came to an understanding that I wasn't prejudice and we had a good laugh over it. Dennis was that kind of man. He loved people! I will miss him now but I know I will see him in Heaven. Dennis if you can hear me say hi for me to the Big Guy!

I grew up with Denis in Brooklyn, New York. We attended the same church, sang in the same choirs, and played basketball with other friends whenever possible. I joined the Air Force 2 years before he did and unfortunately, lost track of him. Another friend from Brooklyn, the church, and the Air Force advised me of his passing. I am so sorry for his family's loss. Rest in peace my friend, brother, and fellow veteran. I have fond memories of our teen years in Brooklyn.

I worked for Denis back in 2016 in the AMARG Facilities Office. One of the things I remember most was hearing him yell at the top of his lungs when called on somebody, “RENE!!!”…“FABIAN!!!”…”HANK!!!”…”BRETT!!!” We all joked and said we were going to have an intercom installed so he wouldn’t have to yell. Once in a while I would hear him bellow out an “UUUGGGHHHH!!!” out of frustration, or “Sugar Honey Iced Tea!!!”, and then he would proceed to unload on one of us as to what he’s been having to deal with all day. But what I remember best is his high-pitched joyous laughter, coupled with his gentle spirit. That is what I hold most dear to my heart, and what I will miss the most.
My wife Janet and I will both miss Denis, and naturally wish we had more time. Nevertheless, we cherish the time that we were blessed to know him. Farewell, brother…until we meet again!

I am always grateful to Denis for his ability to humbly teach what he knew and his ability to ask about what he did not. He reminded me by his words and actions to be friendly and courteous with everyone, everyday. I truly miss Denis and offer my condolences to his family whom I knew he cherished and to his Grandson who was a special joy that he was very proud of.

Denis, my brother from another mother. I first met you in the 90's when you were working late on training records. I remember asking you "what are you doing here so late" your reply "these training records are all messed up and they need to be fixed". That was your attitude in all the years that I have known you. We have had a great journey together, we submitted our retirement the , started terminal leave, started working as contractors in the AMARG AGE Shop, got laid off, and hired civil service all on the same day. I eventually ended up working for you in the Facilities section in AMARG until you left for another journey in the Border Patrol. I will miss our disagreements, and me saying sorry to pissing you off. The brief time I have known you is not enough and you will be greatly missed. Rest In Peace my dear friend.

It’s hard to meet people in life who are willing to give everything without the hope of any return. Denis was there for me during my hard times, I call myself lucky.
I have known Denis since March 2013 while working for me and with me. We have discussed a plan for his civil service career before retiring in two years. He is an intelligent individual, fast learner, hard-worker, and very resourceful. Denis will get things done as long as it is legal, it is safe, and it is the right thing to do.
Denis - you have always been true to your values and you are a man of integrity. I thank god everyday for blessing me with such a true friend like you! May you rest in peace. You will always be in our loving memories.

I had the privilege of working with Denis for the past couple years. With me being based out of California, Denis was my "eyes and ears" for a few projects in Tucson. Denis was truly one of the best people I know. He was always positive and kind, and really made you feel good just talking to you. He would bend over backwards to help with anything he could. I'm so sad to hear of Denis' passing, but I believe he's gone to a wonderful place, waiting to be reunited with the rest of his family. One of my first memories with Denis was when I came to town and picked him up in my rental car to head down to Ft Huachuca to look at a project. He looked at my compact rental car with a big smile on his face, then proceeded to squeeze in. He did get in, but we quickly decided it'd be best to take the government truck! If you know Denis, you know the only thing bigger than his physical stature was his joyful presence.

I had the pleasure of working with Denis for just a short couple of years. In that time I came to know him as a friend and consider him to be one of the greatest people I have ever known. His positivity and warm heart has served as an inspiration to me and an example for how we should conduct ourselves throughout our time here on earth. I am truly proud to have known him.
Nearly every person I have spoken to describes Denis in the same way-a gentle giant. Denis and I shared many challenges in our jobs and we shared many laughs together as well. I have come to treasure his friendship and I will continue to miss him greatly.
I will keep his spirit in my heart always and will keep him and your family in my thoughts and prayers.

Still in shock and can't think of the best thing to write. I remember when I met you for the first time, back in 2001 in the 358th CAT box at the main AGE shop. I had just arrived at DM. You said you were surprised that I didn't end up in your CAT cause you had most of the "females" (Hudson, Engermann, and the other gal that married Penny I can't remember her name) then you said you were glad to have them cause the girls in AGE work harder than all the guys do anyways. Which is totally true. :) When you retired and went to work at AMARG, I remember thinking, "People actually work out there???" This is where we came to work together again in 2011 and you helped get me picked up as a contract AGE employee. I remember when getting assigned my weekly PE's I would look at my assigned equipment and it would be Mules, NSGNC, and -60's. I remember complaining and saying, "Denis! "WTF?! how come I have so much powered equipment to get done and Vilchis has got BS to work like B4 stands and tank dollys??" And you said, "Cause I know you'll get it done and I know you'll do a good job." I was all bent out of shape at the time, but I truly appreciated then and now that you always had confidence in me as an AGE mechanic and you let me know that. No matter how crappy the situation, you always said, "GOD is good, all the time. All the time, GOD is good." I will NEVER forget you saying that regularly. I appreciate all you did for me and my career. Bobby and I talk about you often and we will always be thinking of you. You are TRULY missed.

Dennis, we first met in the late 90's working AGE for Compass Call. We immediately hit it off, and sometimes after long shifts our group would head somewhere and tell war stories, into the early morning over a bottle of Crown. I remember how proud you were of all your children, and the lengths you would go through for them. Sometimes at work we had our differences but at the end of the day we were still friends and respected each others opinion. As we both retired from active duty, we would soon work together at AMARG. You even talked me into bowling on your team, lol. Over the last couple years we had new shared interest, our grandchildren. Often unplanned we would see each at youth basketball games or even Disneyland. We would always talk about the old days, and make plans to get together, yet something always got in the way. Although we did not get a chance to hang out as catch a football game, as much as wanted to, especially this last year, we knew we were always there for each other if needed. It still has not sunk into me yet that you are gone, I will miss you my friend. Your friend Mike Zielinski
