Obituary of Lois A. Huffman

Lois A. Huffman 1927 - 2020

Lois Huffman passed away peacefully on December 11, 2020 in Tucson, Arizona. She was born on November 22, 1927 in Crookston, MN. She is preceded in death by her beloved parents Leo and Ruth Anderson and her husband, Alan Huffman.

Lois was raised on a farm in Crookston, Minnesota and attended school there. After she graduated from high school, she pursued her education to become an air traffic controller. She completed school and was assigned to a position in Florida.

Prior to moving to Florida to start work, she went to Minnesota for Christmas. It was there that she met and married Edward Glanz and never pursued her career as an air traffic controller. Instead, she had four "wonderful" children and traveled around the world due to Ed being in the Air Force.

Later, Lois moved to Tucson and found the love of her life and married Doctor Alan Huffman in June 1969. Lois and Alan worked together, and they loved, laughed, and traveled together for 41 years. They had a special place in their hearts for Lake Tahoe.

Lois loved her family and friends. She was the "hostess with the mostest" and literally entertained thousands of friends and family throughout the years. Lois enjoyed playing Zonk, bingo and card games. She also liked quilting, cross stitching and cooking. Lois was quite a character and had a contagious laugh. She regularly made those around her laugh too. Lois had friends all around the world and frequently kept in touch through e-mail on her computer. Most recently, she learned how to use "Zoom."

Lois believed in "many hands make light work" and helping others. She was always ready to pitch in and help. She volunteered untold numbers of hours at church, Bible School, thrift stores, Meals on Wheels, Tucson Meet Yourself, cooking, baking, cleaning, driving others to doctors' appointments, mending, sewing and oh-so-much more. Lois worked in many trades including as a Telephone Operator at Mountain Bell, a bank teller, even taking the census, as well as being the Receptionist in Alan's office.

Lois was a member of Streams in the Desert Lutheran Church and various groups within the church, as well as The Norsemen, and The Elks.

Lois had many close friends and was thankful for everyone's friendship through the years! As she always said, "True friends are always welcome at my house, no invitation needed."

Lois is survived by her two beloved sisters, Ardis Gullingsrud of Corvallis, Montana and Opal Rich of El Segundo, California; son Edward Glanz and his wife Kitty; daughter Nancy Glanz; son James Glanz and his wife Christine; all from Tucson and daughter Ruth Weaver and her husband Bob from Las Vegas, Nevada. Lois is also survived by fourteen grandchildren and twenty-one great-grandchildren.

Lois's ashes will be placed in the Rose Garden at Streams in the Desert Lutheran Church and her memorial plaque will be placed next to Alan's.
