Obituary of Melba G. Tinervin

Melba G. Tinervin of Tucson, AZ, former of IL, passed away peacefully with daughter, Linda Carls, and son-in-law, John Carls by her side. Melba was born July 5th, 1935 in San Antonio, TX.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 20 years in 1995, her mother and one brother. Melba is survived by her daughter, Linda (John) Carls, granddaughter Natalie (Bobby) Torres, Michelle (Anthony) LaMantia and three great-grandchildren Bianca, Jake and Parker. She is also survived by brothers Austin (Gigi) Newton and Henry Strawn.

Following retirement from career work at the Health Department and Dental offices, Melba enjoyed traveling, gardening, reading, entertaining and caring for her grandchildren.

Philanthropy, friendship, strength and family were the core of who Melba was. She loved golfing and lunching with the Dorado Women’s Golf League. She was also a very active, 50+ year member of the women’s organization, PEO, serving most recently in Chapter U of Tucson.

Cremation has been arranged by Bring’s Broadway Chapel with interment of ashes at Park Hill Cemetery and Mausoleum in Bloomington, Il. Private arrangements with immediate family will be at a later date. The family is requesting that in lieu of flowers, donations can be offered in memory of Melba to:
