Obituary of Richard A. Civiok

Richard A. Civiok, loving husband and father, passed away at 77 surrounded by his wife of 39 years, Mary Anne Civiok, daughter, Patricia Rommel, and son, Richard M. Civiok. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren. Born in Rome, New York to Adolph and Emma Civiok, he left Rome after high school to enlist in the US Air Force. He proudly served his country for over 20 years, working in power production, HVAC, and was in charge of back-up power to Titan Missiles. He had several overseas assignments, including Thailand, Korea and Germany, and would sometimes share special stories from his travels around the world. After retiring from Davis Monthan Air Force Base in Tucson, he worked in his second career as an HVAC technician for Hughes Aircraft/Raytheon.

Rich had many hobbies and interests.  He was a Master Swimmer, winning national Master Swimming championships. He earned his brown belt in Karate from the same teacher in Korea who taught Chuck Norris. Rich loved to fish, and shared a love of dancing, kayaking and art with his wife. He became an excellent artist and developed many friendships with artists in Tucson and northern Michigan, where he loved to spend summers and falls. He was also an outstanding cook who loved to regale his family and friends with his wonderful meals.

Rich was a devoted, loving husband who loved his family deeply.  He was a very special man. He was caring, patient, strong, courageous, and a man of deep integrity. He was a kind, sweet man, who was quiet and unassuming. He had a twinkle in his eye and a special light that radiated to others. People loved to be around him. He was a true blessing to his family, friends and those who knew him. He will be deeply missed.

Any charitable donations in his honor could be made to Disabled American Veterans.
