Obituary of Josephine M. Herrmann

Josephine (Jo) M. Herrmann, 86, died suddenly of health complications on September 7, 2020 at Peppi's House-TMC Hospice, Tucson, Arizona. She also celebrated her 62d wedding anniversary on the day of her death. She was born on March 31, 1934, in Corona, New York, and daughter to Giuseppi (Joseph) and Lina Laurelli (Messina). Jo is a 1952 Newtown high school graduate. She later worked for American Credit as a head switchboard operator and typist. She met her husband Joseph Herrmann, on September 7, 1956 at a local dance in New York and later married on September 7, 1958. Jo enjoyed dancing, singing, playing bocci, shuffleboard, online games, cooking Italian food, traveling, and spending time with her husband Joe, children, 5 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren, that she attributes to one of her most wonderful experiences in her life. Jo also volunteered as a church Usher for many years in Stuart, Florida.

Many people knew Jo as a sweet, warmhearted, giving, loving, caring, and devoted mother to her husband and all family members. She was always smiling and laughing. Jo will begin her journey into heaven and reunite with family and friends. She will be dearly missed and will be forever in our hearts until we meet again with her.

Jo is preceded by her parents, Guesseppi (Joseph) and Lina Laurelli; Sister (Rosemary DiSimone), and Brothers (Marty and Frank Laurelli). She is Survived by her spouse, Joseph F. Herrmann, Tucson, AZ; children: Son, John Herrmann (Erin), Slingerlands, NY; Daughter, Diane Herrmann, Casper, WY; Son, and Joey Herrmann (Deb), Denver, CO; Grandchildren: Ashley Speed (Garrick), Billings, MT; Brittany Dickon (C.J.), Pueblo, CO; Kyle Dickon, Casper, WY; Jimmy Herrmann (Jessie), Rensselaer, NY; and Jimmy Collver, Casper, WY; and Great Grandchildren: Landon /, Noah and Mariella Speed, Billings, MT, and Kylan Dickon, Casper, WY.

A Celebration of Life Ceremony will be held on Tuesday, September 15, 2020, 10:00-11:00 a.m. at St. Francis, De Sales Church, Tucson, AZ. Father Liam Leahy presiding. A luncheon will follow the church service at Mama Louisa’s Italian restaurant, 2041 S. Craycroft Rd, Tuscon, AZ 85711. Flowers or donations may be accepted at St. Francis De Sales Church or Alzheimer’s Association.
