A Poem for my brother Zack.
When I think of my younger sibling, I think of his transistor radio that he would listen to the sports game every evening before dozing off to sleep.
I think of how as a small boy, he exuded such confidence when we would walk to the neighborhood store to spend our allowance on a favorite candy bar.
When asked by adults what his favorite food was, Zacks' reply @ age 3 or 4 would be "escargot & frog legs!" this made the grownups chuckle.
One very high temps. summer, we watched the film Goonies more times than I can remember, which was A LOT!
He always won our ongoing fight over the remote control for the television. He had a lot of spunk for his age.
"Wonder-twins power activate!" & playing Marco Polo @ the swimming pool.
The last time we saw you in Tucson a few years ago, you went swimming & played Marco Polo w/ your nieces. Thank goodness for that.
Love 4-ever,
Your sister.

I just found out that Zack has passed and I’m crushed. He was one of my sisters Xaviera’s best friend and was there for me through her passing. I hadn’t heard from him in a while and texted him and then checked his Facebook. I am filled with immense sadness that I didn’t realize sooner. I am so sorry Zack. I hope you have found peace and happiness. And I hope you and Xaviera are reunited again. Thank you for everything. I am crushed.

Zack was a wonderful cousin and friend. I have so many fond memories of him. I will never forget pretending to speak another language with him while we were out at a dinner with our grandparents and raising a number of eyebrows. Zack saved me from touching a Gila monster when we were about 9 in our grandparents garage. I thought it was beautiful, and coming from NYC, did not realize how poisonous it was and went to try and touch it and Zack grabbed my hand away. I remember a night when we were teenagers just walking around outside for hours sharing ghost stories. Zack was the big brother I never had. I hope you have found peace dear Zack.
My deepest condolences to Greg, Claire, Alina and all of his close family and friends.

What I remember most about Zach is his communication skills were to be desired. He could start a conversation with anyone. When talking with him he made you feel like you were the most important person in the room. He always had a smile on his face, and when parting from company he would say, “I love you man!” I will never forget you and I will see you again cousin. I love you.

Zack’s death hit our whole family like a ton of bricks, which placed a void in our world, as large as a black hole. My memories traveled back when his mom first laid an adorable infant in my arms named Zachary. He was wide-eyed, content, and happy, just to be held and loved and in the middle of a joyous event.
We all love Zach immensely!! It seems like yesterday that Zach and I had a lively conversation regarding his achievements and passions. His sparkling eyes, warmness, wittiness, humor, and ability to connect with such passion when speaking about his life, sealed our last conversation in eternity. His vibrancy for life will live on forever.
After an hour of hearing about his most passionate interests, the last question I asked Zach was, “Gee Zach, how do you do it?” His reply with all sincerity, “You just do.” He leaned over and gave me a big bear hug and a wide glistening smile and added, but I make sure I do it with my awesome family and friends”; as he looked around the room at our huge gathering. We then parted with an “I love you Zachy” and “I love you, Auntie GG”.

Thank you for your sweet missive, Aunt GG, we are all heartbroken. Despite knowing of his current struggling, I always held on that he would pull through. When he was a toddler he used to say to us "Zack-a-do" He wanted to do everything! He accomplished a lot during his 39 years of life. Hugs, Alina

What a wonderful person, what warmth. He will be and is missed.
The memory of Zack for me that first comes to mind is from a time when he visited us in San Francisco around 1996. We were living there at the time and I played squash at the Bay Club. They also had a basketball court where a lot of investor banker alpha male types played. I of course knew of Zack’s basketball prowess, but I was a little curious to see whether his skills lived up to the hype. So, we headed down to the club, walked into wear a heated game was being played. After a while, when someone had to head out, Zack was invited onto the court. It was shirts vs skins. I still remember how this tall skinny kid within a few minutes took over the game – directing his team – guys making over $1million a year -- passing, shooting and all around leading the skins to victory. I was impressed, not just with his skill but the way in which he led with polite and understated confidence. I wish we had been able to see him more over the years, but the times together were always wonderful.
Very, very sorry and chagrined that Zack is gone and most heartfelt condolences to Claire, Greg and Alina.

Thank you for sharing this awesome memory about Zack, Jeff & Joelle, Claire would keep me updated that Zack was in touch with his Uncle & Aunt via text & phone conversations. One of his great passions in life, basketball!! Recently, Claire & Zack were texting me pictures of what the NBA players are wearing off the basketball court, wish he was here. Zack was always a joyful soul to be around. He lit up the room with his smile and infectious conversations. He always left you knowing how much he loved you. “I love you man,” he would always say upon leaving with a great big hug. We were so proud of him. I remember celebrating on a hot Tucson day his accomplishment of graduating with his law degree (after passing the bar the first time!). He was so ecstatic donning a dapper off white suit, which only he could pull off. Zack loved his family deeply and fought hard. We are truly grateful for the precious time we had on this earth with him. The fond memories we have of Zack will live on in our hearts always. We love and miss you Zack!

We thought we had a lifetime to see Zack’s smile again, hear his laugh, or just sit quietly on a bench together.
What matters is that you could play endless games of Go Fish, you could humor your young fans by showing them basketball tricks, you could be humble seeing your name up in lights at the Phoenix Suns arena, you could wait patiently for a French chef to properly cook your steak (well-done, not raw, merci).
What matters is that you tried to help and to find help. What matters is that you cared deeply.
We will miss you terribly and you will always be in our hearts, Big Z. May you rest in peace.
With deepest sympathy,
Christine and Joe

Oh Zack, he was the best man.
He lit up when talking about being an uncle. His mom had his heart. He talked about her with the most sincere and genuine love same about his sister and nieces.
It was always a good time with Zack. If it was a trip into the grocery store where he acted as if he was my bodyguard or just how fun he made a regular lunch trip way more hilarious. I remember after going swimming him yelling from the shower that he needed face wash and ‘no Mary, body wash is not the same’ Lol So extra ;)
He was certainly extra in the most quirky hilarious ways. I was always so proud to hear about things like getting into the gym and working on himself.
He had a way of listening so contently when you would talk to him, he truly cared.
And there was never a conversation without mention of Jets. His love.
I’ll miss his voice, his happiness and his true loving soul.
After I heard the news, I was driving down Broadway and had this rush thru my body, looked left and saw a mortuary. I said, ‘you’re there aren’t you Zack, miss you.
Come to find out, it was Brings.
Rest In Peace, Zack. All my love

I went to high school and middle school with Zack. We were never close, but I ran into him ten years ago in Bisbee at a bar and he bought me a couple of beers and we had a really good, long, deep conversation about the past that I will never forget. I am sorry for your family’s loss and I hope you can find some comfort right now during this difficult time. Rest In Peace, Zack.

I am an attorney who worked with Zach for a time. I enjoyed working with him. He was so very good at what he did and such a snappy dresser, seriously. Zach had the most endearing giggle - yes, a giggle, not a laugh. The giggle was literally infectious. To Zach's family and friends, I am so sorry for your loss. He is missed.

I am Zack’s aunt and the first time I met him I was a mer child myself. I have a vivid memory of such a beautiful little boy dressed so cute, almost like royalty. His dark hair and sweet face is something I will always remember. Zackary, for me, was always there to help and do all he could. At the time he helped my Steven Jr. with his struggles and help to saved his life. I am forever thankful for his selfless scarafice, he gave the gift of life or another chance of life for my son. Zack, came to stay with us for Easter while he was at Emory and we were in Atlanta, that was a special time I think back on. Always so polite and kind and could give a hug that made you feel so loved. Heaven has received an angel that now can watch over his loved ones. I love you Zack, until we meet again. Aunt Margie
