Obituary of Karen McGuire

Our familiy is devastated to announce the passing of our mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, cousin, and friend Karen McGuire “Meme” at the age of 79. She was born in Delta, Utah on February 15, 1941 and entered into eternal life on June 7th, 2020. She was preceded in death by her parents Heber Benson and Evalina Wilkins, her siblings Terri Simmons, Jean Morgan, Devere Wilkins, Ronald Wilkins, Donald Wilkins, Arlene Lynch, Jerry Wilkins, Tim Wilkins, and her daughter Michelle Makin.

Meme’s life was filled with hard work and family. She worked for the Salvation Army for 20+ years from where she retired in 2004. She wouldn’t pass up a chance to eat a meal out with family or a shopping spree with any of her daughters. If you knew her then you knew she was very giving and would give the shirt off her back if someone was in need. Meme loved to travel to visit her siblings in Utah, where they would have country music ‘jam’ sessions in their earlier years. She was the last survivor of the nine Wilkins children who were born in the small Utah town of Delta.

Karen McGuire is survived by her daughters Suzy (Todd) Harris, Wendy Preston of Las Cruces, NM, Kathy Benzi, Tracy (Ray) Kallatsa, 18 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren with two on the way.
