Obituary of Robert L. Maiorca
Robert L. Maiorca, 72, passed away unexpectedly on June 3, 2020 in Tucson, Arizona. Born to Ann and Santo Maiorca on April 16, 1948. He was a long-time resident of La Grange Park, Illinois before settling into his favorite city of Tucson, Arizona 20 years ago.
Bob loved his country and enlisted in the Air Force after graduating from Lyons Township High School in 1967. He retired in 2008 as a Senior Master Sergeant, from Davis-Monthan AFB, Arizona. During his 41 years in the Air Force, he received numerous awards including the Vietnam Service Medal 1 Oak Leaf Cluster, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, AF Outstanding Unit award, and National Defense Service Medal 1 Oak Leaf Cluster.
Bob is the adored father of Tammy Ryan; beloved grandfather of Brett, Alex, Drew, and Nicholas; cherished brother of Mary Ann Maiorca, Sam (Barb) Maiorca, and Patti (Frank) Pascoe; Best friend of Carol Maiorca Burnett and John Campise; loved uncle of many nieces and nephews; and cherished friend to countless. Bob is preceded in death by sister Joanie (Keith) Ehlers, and parents Ann Fitzgerald and Santo Maiorca.
All who knew Bob couldn’t help but love him. He was known for his delicious Italian cooking! He had such a fun sense of humor and was always the first in line if anyone needed help. He was one of the kindest, friendliest and most genuine souls you could ever be lucky enough to know. His daughter commonly refers to him as her HERO, because that is exactly what he is and always will be to her. His grandsons love their Papa Bob who never failed to give them the perfect model of how to grow into exemplary young men. We wish our time together on earth was longer, but we are so grateful for the time we had.
Those who were fortunate enough to know Bob, know that his favorite thing to do was spend time with those he loves. More than anything we wanted to give him a day he would have loved most, a room full of his friends and family. Due to Coronavirus, the service will be private. The service will, however, be webcast. Please join us via the webcast to honor and celebrate Bob’s life at 10:00 am MST, 12:00 pm CST on Friday, June 19th, 2020.
