Obituary of Connie Delia Lopez

Connie Delia Lopez 11/26/1925- 5/27/2020

Survived by her daughter, Christina (Robert); two grandsons, Paul and Mark(Samantha);her great grandson Andre, preceded in Eternal Life by her sisters Emma (Rossini), Theresa (Paredes), Blanche (Hansen), and her brother Fernando (Rodriguez) She was the daughter of Fernando and Ramona Rodriguez. She spent 86 years of her life in Tucson, before spending her final 8 years in the San Francisco Bay Area to be closer to her daughter. She was loved by many, wore her heart on her sleeve, and was never afraid to speak her mind. The ultimate host, her holiday parties, and celebration skills were admired by family and friends across generations. She always welcomed her guests with a smile and would bend over backwards to accommodate everyone's needs. An avid sports fan, she spent decades following Wildcat Basketball, Arizona Diamondback baseball, while later in life adopting the San Francisco Giants, and the Golden State Warriors. The only person she loved more than Steph Curry, and singer Luis Miguel, was her husband Albert with whom she shared the ultimate love story. They fell in love in middle school and spent 65 years together never leaving each other's side. An avid reader, and dedicated student, she finished in the top 3 of her Class at the University of Arizona in 1947, a rare accomplishment for anyone, let alone a Mexican-American woman in the 1940’s. Not long after college, she dedicated her life to Education, teaching Tucsonan 3rd graders for 25 years before becoming a travel agent for Tanque Verde Travel. During her years as a travel agent, she explored the world with Albert at her side, commonly saying the favorite place she ever visited was Jerusalem besides taking Caribbean cruises with her family. A devoted Catholic, she never missed church on Sundays, even watching Mass on TV, when she was unable to attend in person. She was an exceptional woman through and through, and is finally reunited with Albert, at one of Heaven’s lake fronts, finishing a crossword puzzle, maybe or maybe not without any cheating involved.
