Gloria Samaniego

Obituary of Gloria Rose Samaniego

Gloria Rose Samaniego was welcomed into her Heavenly home on Friday, May 22, 2020 by her mother, Dolores Sanchez Sillik, father, Lafal Sillik, and brothers, Robert, Henry, George, and Willie, as well as her sister, Eva. She is survived by her beloved husband of 71 glorious years, Frank Samaniego, her sister, Alice, and her children, Henry (Joan), Suzy (Tony), Theresa, and Frank (Sandra), as well as her grandchildren, Ricardo, Danielle (Eddie), Andrew, Marisa, Daniel (Brendy), and her great grandchildren, Reyna and little Eddie.

Gloria was born on August 30, 1930 in Buckeye, Arizona. She lived in Superior and the Phoenix area until high school, when the family relocated to Tucson. She was a natural athlete in those days and loved talking about her abilities in volleyball and softball. In 1949, she married Frank, and began her life as a wife and mother.  She was quick witted, spunky, and had a wonderful sense of humor. She could strike up a conversation with anyone, loved chatting on the phone, and especially enjoyed getting her hair done. Her strong will and determination kept her going long into her life. She was an advocate for her children, and grandchildren, and nothing brought her more joy than visiting with them. We will always love and miss her as our beloved wife, mother, and grandmother. Private services will be held at a later date.
